What is Peasant Farming

Updated: Oct 30, 2020

Peasant farming refers to a type of small scale agriculture. Peasant farmers grow crops and often rear some livestock on a small scale. Some of the produce is used to feed the family and the surplus is sold. Kansas, the largest agricultural state, has kids going to bed hungry. This is because the crops grown in Kansas go into chemical processing. These crops consist of soy and corn. They go into making petroleum and gasoline. Isn't it funny how the state that grows the most produce has the largest percentage of child hunger. Peasant farming means feeding yourself before you feed others. This is important because once you nourish yourself and your family you can nourish others. When people practice peasant farming the rate of hunger in America will drop. This will then produce better produce because of the smaller scale agriculture. This is just food for thought.
