Radishes: How to Grow, Harvest, and Eat Them.

Radishes are beautiful root vegetables that are delicious on salads, avocado toast, and just to eat! There are over 20 types of radishes including the english breakfast radish, watermelon radish, and the pink radish. The best way to grow radishes for a spring planting, sow seeds 4–6 weeks before the average date of last frost. See local frost dates here. It's best to plant radish seeds directly in the garden so as not to disturb their roots. Directly sow seeds outdoors ½ to 1 inch deep and 1 inch apart in rows 12 inches apart. When planting radishes grow them with cucumbers, spinach, squashes, and beans. This will make for extra tasty radishes. Radishes are ready for harvest when roots reach 1 inch across. Lift the whole plant when radishes are the right size. Lift a few or push the soil aside gently to decide if they are large enough to harvest. Do not leave radishes in the ground too long or they will become pithy. You can eat radishes however you please!
