LED Bulbs Vs. Incandescent

Writer: Savannah Wright Savannah Wright

Everyone's question is, do LED bulbs really save energy? The answer to that question is yes! LEDs use much less energy than incandescent bulbs because diode light is much more efficient, power-wise, than filament light. LED bulbs use more than 75% less energy than incandescent lighting. At low power levels, the difference is even larger. Bright LED flood lamps use only 11 to 12 watts while incandescent lights use 50 watts. Technically LED bulbs aren't bulbs at all. LEDs or "light emitting diodes" are tiny semiconductors that are wrapped in plastic to concentrate and focus the light. Incandescent light bulbs produce a lot of heat whereas LEDs produce little to no heat. So when buying light bulbs make sure you toss out the incandescent and replace them with LED!
