Believe it or not the thing many Americans drink religiously can be used to fertilize your garden. This can provide nutrients to the soil and accelerate the growing process of your plants. To use coffee grounds as fertilizer, simply sprinkle them onto the soil surrounding your plants. Coffee grounds make great fertilizer because they contain several key nutrients required for plant growth. They can also help attract worms and decrease the concentrations of heavy metals in the soil. While used coffee grounds are only slightly acidic, fresh (unbrewed) coffee grounds have more acid. Your acid-loving plants like hydrangeas, rhododendrons, azaleas, lily of the valley, blueberries, carrots, and radishes can get a boost from fresh grounds.
