How to Fix Your Soil Issues

Updated: Oct 28, 2020

Many people have soil issues that have simple fixes, so here are some solutions. When your soil has too much nitrogen you need to plant a cover crop such as clover. This absorbs the nitrogen from air and fixes the nitrogen into Nitrate creating luscious soil. On the other hand if your soil lacks nitrogen you're going to want to plant nitrogen rich plants such as beans and peas. Spreading coffee grounds will also help with this problem. Now if your soil has a lot of clay in it you're going to need to get creative. What I do is take layers of cardboard, mulch, and comfrey fertilizer (nitrogen rich fertilizer). I roll them all together and top with soil. This melds together creating soil viable for the most fragile lettuce. The last soil problem I will address is if you have a plethora of weeds. The few things that you can do are either pull them, dig them up, or cover them with a thick layer of mulch. The mulch will block out the sunlight causing the weeds to shrivel up and die. I hope this helps with your soil issues! Email me at savannah.candace.wright@gmail.com if you have any specific issues that I can address!
