Because of the fires occurring on the Front Range of Colorado Denver has the 3rd worst air pollution in the world. Isn't that crazy. The smoke coming from the west is creating a thick smog that is clouding the air. Air pollution is a mixture of solid particles and gases in the air. Car emissions, chemicals from factories, dust, pollen and in this case smoke, are all factors in air pollution. When ozone forms air pollution, it's also called smog. The increased amount of fine particulate matter in wildfire smoke can hurt your eyes, irritate your respiratory system, and worsen chronic heart and lung diseases. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and the Regional Air Quality Council issued an Action Day Alert for Douglas County north to Larimer and Weld counties, including the Denver-Boulder area, Fort Collins and Greeley through Monday afternoon. To protect yourself from the harmful air make sure your indoor air is healthy, wear sunglasses outside, and stay hydrated. Try and stay away from starting campfires for the safety of our forests. Stay safe!
